My hair loves it, my bank account – not so much.
UPDATE AFTER TWO YEARS OF USE: I ultimately found this line at a reasonable price, and had been happily using it for over two years. While I hadn’t noticed any kind of significant benefits from using this line, it did make my hair feel nice and appear healthier. Fast forward to now, and suddenly in January 2024, this entire line is leaving my hair greasy. Not just greasy, but GREEEAAASYYY – it will NOT rinse out in the shower regardless of how long or vigorously I rinse my hair. It’s so bad that it’s gross. It makes zero sense as I’ve been using this daily for years without any issue, but now, out of nowhere: it’s turned on me. I have to use a strong clarifying shampoo to remove the greasy, oily residue this is leaving behind. (I had been attempting to rotate products to see if I could identify a single product in the line that was the culprit, but it seems they’re all doing it.) And I’m not alone – other women on the social medial platform that starts with Red*** are having the exact same issue. So, what gives, Redken? I have a small but pricey stockpile of this product line that I absolutely cannot use unless I want to go put in public looking like I haven’t washed my hair in six + months. HARD PASS!###My stylist turned me on to this shampoo and conditioner line by accident. I was able to purchase my first bottle of each (and the leave-in cream) at half the cost through another channel. My fine (highlighted) hair that’s prone to breakage absolutely seems to love this product line. The full retail cost is incredibly prohibitive, even though the shampoo lasts me 2-3 times as long as a bottle of the conditioner (and one bottle of the conditioner lasts me about a month). Unfortunately, my hair soaks the conditioner in, so it’s not like it’s lasting me long enough to justify the full retail cost. Having said that, I do feel like the cost is fair if you’re able to purchase it at a discounted rate. I’d definitely do some research to investigate other channels to purchase at a more economical price.I’m very picky about scents, and really had to work hard to not hate the smell of the Redken Extreme line (which is what I’d used prior to this). The Acidic Bonding line has a very gender neutral scent: it’s on the lighter side, though it definitely is scented, but it fades quickly, so you don’t walk around smelling like your shampoo and conditioner all day. That’s a plus for me, but I don’t LOVE the scent. I’d call it tolerable.Does this line do what it promises? It does, though it can get heavy on fine hair. I’ve tested it to see if I can skip a few days and use other product lines in between, just to save on cost. I’m pretty certain that once you’ve washed with something else, that’s it – and the “glue” that’s bonding your split ends and frayed strands is gone until you’ve used this for another week straight to replace it all again. A little does go a long way, but be warned if you have porous hair that loves conditioner: you’ll still use less than you’re used to using with other product lines, but you’ll definitely go through this quicker than the shampoo. On the flip side, while I’m on my first bottle of shampoo, and third or fourth bottle of conditioner, I’m not even halfway through my first tube of the leave-in product. That makes it the most economical purchase in the line, IMO, and the one thing that I can totally justify purchasing at full retail since it’s likely to last me 3-4 months.Overall, I really do like this product line, and I would be a faithful, dedicated, every-day-no-matter-what user if only the price were more reasonable. At $30 a bottle for a shampoo and conditioner, this is a luxury purchase purchase for me regardless of how much I like it, so I’m sort of forced to try to extend my time between purchases and intersperse it with other product lines – unless I can purchase in bulk at a more reasonable price.

The BEST hair care products!!
This is AMAZING! It leaves my hair incredibly soft. Like it’s so expensive and the bottles are small but it is so worth it. It helps my curls so much after a wash. I don’t think my hair has EVER been healthier. I use it wisely and keep every drop on my head because of the price. Redken never fails to impress me. Everything about their line is great. Again, I truly recommend this product. I’ve never had a better shampoo and conditioner set!!

Best conditioner for damaged hair
Amazing for damaged hair!!! Best conditioner I’ve ever used. My hair has grown so much and it’s sooo soft and healthy. This is very concentrated conditioner so make sure to use a lot less than you usually would or it will weight your hair down.

this is a TINY tube of product
My stylist used this on my last visit. It worked really well and she swore by it. This is more my fault. This is ONE FLUID OZ. FOR $17.00. I almost had to LOL when I saw the tube, and not laughing in a good way

10/10
Background: I box dye my hair occasionally (3-4x a yr) and even more rarely will I apply heat. No bleach or rough brushing, I wear a bonnet to bed 9x/10. – Nevertheless I needed to cut 12+” off of my hair to get back to the *healthy* stuff due to stress and diet.I have thick, curly hair that is always thirsty. This helped my hair within the first use and I’m obsessed!I haven’t tried anything new besides this conditioner, so I know for sure this is what’s made my hair change. Plus you can *feel* this conditioner work as soon as you apply it. It has great slip and melts into your hair like butter. That’s not normal in my experience, even with a deep conditioner as my hair is STUBBORN. hahaI’m amazed and even like the smell. My husband says it smells like fruit loops cereal. (: I agree! The scent is nice imo and does (softly) linger for a day or two.My only complaint would be the bottle being large with a small cap. You can’t turn it over to let gravity help keep the conditioner at the cap so it’s easy to squeeze out. I’ll have to get a pump or one of those bottle inverter thingies as it’s not easy to get out when the bottle is dry,et alone wet. This conditioner is too thick for it not to come with a bottom squeeze bottle or a pump but that’s all I can complain about. The product itself is miraculous and I’m so glad I gave it a chance. Seriously the first conditioner that I feel is worth every penny.Anyways, my hair was a better texture and smoother with the first use. By the second try, I had a shine to my hair again and it felt soft (which is hard to do when you have coarse hair!!) for the first time in what felt like forever. My third condition with this and my hair has a brilliant shine and my curls are more defined without the curly brush or any product. Using a bit of product and I have the hair I did as a child. Glossy spirals and ringlets mixed throughout deep S curls. I’m in my early thirties and haven’t seen this hair since my teens. I’m obsessed. Literally 10/10 don’t walk, run. 🩷

Redken is the very best there is for shampoos and conditioners and protein treatments. The Bonding Shampoo and Conditioner is a Treatment in itself and the shine and softness with strength which is gives to my hair is second to none. Fifty years ago I had a salon and we only used Redken products and they have only improved.
