Looks and feels sleek and high quality!
I absolutely love this coat. As someone who has never owned a goose down coat before, I am thoroughly impressed. The warmth-to-weight ratio is incredible- it feels like you’re wearing a cloud, but it provides serious, substantial heat without any of the bulk of a traditional winter coat. At the same time, this coat is actually very lightweight and packable.I particularly love the style of it and think it is super sleek looking. The tailored, slim fit is far more flattering than boxy puffers I’ve tried in the past. The charcoal color is a dark slate grey that is so much more chic and stylish than a harsh black, yet it still matches everything in my wardrobe perfectly. It’s the ultimate modern neutral. It really looks cute paired with black leggings. The quality is excellent. The zipper is smooth, the stitching is precise, and it packs down into its own pouch with ease, making it ideal for travel. Yes, the price is a bit high, but I’m assuming that’s the cost of genuine, high-performance goose down, and in this case, you truly get what you pay for. I didn’t take off a star for the price because I have no idea how much it costs to make a goose down jacket but I do know there are some that cost hundreds of dollars. This jacket delivers a level of lightweight warmth and polished style that is worth the investment. A fantastic coat that I know I’ll wear for years to come. 5 stars!

    Incredibly Lightweight
Since we are still in summertime and it’s so hot the chickens are laying hard boiled eggs, it is really difficult to judge how warm this jacket will ultimately be. I am hoping to find cause to boost the rating to 5 stars come winter. BUT here are my observations so far.Right now this jacket makes me HOT. When I opened the neat little storage bag it came in I thought there was no way it would have much warmth over a regular wind breaker but it definitely does. I have another down jacket which I absolutely love and is a little heavier feeling than this one but they both claim to handle the same temperature range (41 down to 23 degrees). The fabric on this one feels softer and nicer so I hope this is correct. This is a very well made jacket. All the seams are neatly stitched even down to the many horizontal seams which divide the down into sections (so if one section rips, you haven’t lost all your insulation). The sleeves are piped at the wrist where the outside fabric meets the liner which is much better than a standard seam right where I’ll be tugging regularly. The zipper is installed well, the seams/edges are flat, it zips fine (I had slight butterfingers in the video because 2 of my fingers got smashed last week and are currently numb). The collar is well shaped.I ordered a medium in this as I do in all jackets/outerwear. In shirts and tops, I am a solid size small so a medium jacket usually accommodates layers of winter clothes. This medium runs smaller than I expected though not as small as … small. You will definitely want to order a size up from your normal shirt size, maybe two depending on how your normal size fits. The color of this is actually much prettier in person than I expected. I typically prefer blacks/grays. This Obsidian color leans more toward gold or dark brass than brown in person and looks somewhat metallic. So far I am very pleased with this jacket. If we get to winter and you are reading this with 5 stars at the top, I have bumped this up for how it handles the cold. Currently the 4 stars are for quality construction and materials.

A less expensive goose down for cold to frigid temps (with layers)
Fitouch is making an obvious run at Canadagoose with their jackets. This puffer would do well in a cold to frigid environment thanks to the down channels built into it.Fitouch has both goose and duck down, this one is goose. It should be a “minimal” smell style jacket whereas the duck down would be more of a gamey smell. If you’re not from a cold climate, this is a good layer for warmth. The puffiness of the down is what provides the insulation. You need to be sure to not squish it under a heavy overcoat. I like to pair this with the Arcteryx Beta shell or the Outdoor Research shell (can’t remember the model). The shells provide wind and rain protection, the down provides warmth. You could add a vest (merino or electric) under the down and be good into very cold temps. The fit is ever so slightly loose, good for layering. The color is like a mascara black.Style is basic, classic, rivals CG and Patagonia. It’s the price that should entice you. Much better in the value category than competitors.

    Not Worth the Hype
I wanted to love this jacket…on paper, it checks all the boxes: ethically-sourced goose down, super light, and built for cold. But in practice, it just didn’t live up to expectations.Yes, it’s very lightweight, and the fit is nice tailored without feeling too tight. But I was cold in it way sooner than I should’ve been, especially considering the “50% warmer” claim. Even with a fleece underneath, it didn’t handle wind that well. Also, the fabric feels delicate; I haven’t torn it, but I’m constantly worried it’ll snag. For something marketed as high-performance and sub-zero capable, I expected more warmth and durability.
